If you go out to our CLASSROOMS today, you’re sure for a big surprise….
This week has seen each of the Prep classes double in size, with the addition of the some very cute and cuddly classmates. With our sound focus for Week 2 centred on /t/ all of the Preps invited their teddies to join in and help with our reading, writing and maths activities.
Each morning, the students and teachers have had to walk around the school to find the teddies because they went on their very own tour of Laburnum Primary School overnight! We found them in the staffroom having a cup of tea and biscuit, reading books in the library, and of course causing havoc in the classroom! Cheeky teddies! While the weather made it tricky at times we were determined to have our teddy bear picnic up in the staffroom and it was a great success. The Preps introduced their teddies to their friends from other grades, sat on a picnic rug and enjoyed a delicious lunch.
In Mathematics, we have been working on our numbers to 20 as well as completing and interpreting graphs about the most popular coloured teddy in each Prep class. Brown was extremely common!
It was also a shorter week, due to Anzac Day. On Monday at lunch time, the students were treated to an Anzac story which was read to them by the school captains over the intercom and prompted a rich discussion around the significance of Anzac Day.
A few reminders as we move into Week 3:
Next Wednesday and Thursday the students will be meeting Harold the Giraffe in the Life Education Van. A complimentary Parent Information session is offered that aligns itself with the content covered with the students and will take place at 9.15am on Wednesday 3rd of May.
Grandparent’s Morning Tea – Wednesday the 27th of April.
We will be posting our letters to our grandparents next week. If you have still not brought an envelope with a name and address on the front, please do so Monday morning. The Grandparents or special friends will then be coming to visit in our school and classroom in Week 5.
