Term 3 Week 2

This week in Reading, we have been learning to retell important events in stories. We have also been very carefully selecting some ‘Just Right’ books to read during independent reading. We know a book is ‘Just Right’ when it is not too easy or too hard. In Writing, we are enjoying using our handwriting books to practice the correct formation of lower case letters. In Maths, we have been learning about ordinal numbers and competed in a series of classroom challenges to be 1st, 2nd and 3rd. We have been developing our Inquiry skills of forming and asking questions to find out something we want to know and have investigating things that are made to move.

On Thursday 2nd August we will be celebrating 100 days of school! It is incredible to think the Preps have completed 100 days of learning, friendship building and fun so far. We have planned a day of amazing activities and celebrations. Last week your child brought home a note explaining our dress up theme and plastic bag to collect 100 items from home. Please make sure these bags are returned by Thursday as they are part of one of the activities.

Parent Teacher Interviews are being held next week. If you have not booked an interview time yet, please see the school newsletter from the 21st June for instructions on how to access the booking system via Sentral. As interviews are only 10 minutes we ask you to please be on time as we cannot go over into the next allocated interview slot. Interviews will be conducted in your child’s classroom (unless you have requested an interpreter, in this case please come to the conference room on the second floor). Please knock on the door at your allocated time.

Our Science incursion is coming up in Week 4! Please make sure your child has returned their permission slip and payment as soon as possible.

Have a wonderful weekend!
